About the Artist

Lisa is a largely self-taught intuitive artist and instructor who lives on Wellesley Island in the 1000 Islands region of New York. Her work has been featured in national and international art shows over the past 20 years.

One of her favorite mediums is watercolor. She uses 300# cold press Arches watercolor paper and a mixture of professional grade Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith watercolors. Her reference photos are ones taken by her, especially while boating. Lisa uses her math skills attained as an accounting major to draw out pieces with detailed architecture and loves that portion of creating but is moving more into using her own intuition throughout her creative process. Her technique of experimenting during the planning process dictates what the painting is asking of her.

Lisa’s acrylic pieces are mainly painted with Golden Fluid Acrylics. She embellishes them with pastels, water-soluble crayons, and mark-making tools. She allows the materials to do much of the work for her. She feels that they speak to her about what it is they want her to do next to help them come to life, which requires letting go and leaning into the process and the message they wish to share.
